Director

Job Description

  • Ensure tuition payments and co-payments are received by all families in a timely manner.
  • Ensure staff/child ratios is maintained at all times
  • Manage and direct staff appropriately.
  • Ensure high quality in program direction
  • Oversee/travel from site to site.
  • Must conduct 8-hour drop-ins to each site twice a week.
  • Research new program activities.
  • Know ratios per age group.
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop schedules
  • Review and evaluate staff performances.
  • Develop strategies to motivate staff performance.
  • Responsible for Quality Rating Scales/State Standards.
  • Assure compliance with state and local regulations
  • Ensure all safety regulations are met
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with State, CCI, Licensing Rep., Schools and Parents.
  • Prepare a budget for equipment and materials.
  • Conduct staff meetings.

Qualifications

  • The child care director shall be at least 21 years of age.
  • The child care director shall have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
  • Sixty semesters or 90 quarter hours of credit from an accredited college or university with 18 semesters or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6.






OR

  • Two years (3120 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center, 30 semesters or 45 quarter hours of college credits with ten semesters or 15 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, and proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university until two years of college credit have been achieved. A total of 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development is required to be obtained within the total two years of college credits;

OR

  • Completion of a credentialing program approved in accordance with DCFS standards completion of 12 semesters or 18 quarter hours in courses related to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6 at an accredited college or university, and 2 years (3120 clock hours) child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care center.

  • Skills to help children meet their developmental and emotional needs.
  • Skills in planning, directing, and conducting programs that meet the children’s basic needs.
  • Ensure staff/child ratios is always maintained
  • Conduct weekly observations of all children in your classroom.
  • Check equipment daily for chipped paint, broken toys, toys the need batteries, etc.

  • Must complete 20 hours of in-service/online training per year.
  • Must have emotional maturity when working with children.
